Rider Information

• The Race Headquarters is at the Yarborough Sports Centre. This is on the A15 Lincoln-Brigg-Scunthorpe road approximately 1½ miles north of Lincoln City Centre. It is also easily reached via the A46 Lincoln By-Pass by taking the A15 exit and turning south towards Lincoln (Ermine and Cathedral). The Sports Centre is on the right in ¼ mile.
• The event starts from the Sports Centre at 10 am and you must sign on by 9.15 am.
• A TEAM MANAGERS’ MEETING WILL BE HELD AT 9.15 am where the draw for team car positions in the race convoy will be made. Any team manager not present will be placed at the end of the convoy. A Drivers’ meeting will precede this at 9.00 am.
• The race will take place on a circuit passing through Lincoln’s Tourist Area on each lap and will include the cobbled climb of Michaelgate which is 1 in 6 (16.5%) and climbs 200 feet in half a mile. You should be appropriately geared. The 8 mile circuit will be covered 11 times with the Finish in Castle Square after the 11th climb of Michaelgate.
• The climb and some other public areas will not be barriered but ANY RIDER SEEN RIDING ON THE FOOTPATH WILL BE DISQUALIFIED -YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED SO NO COMPLAINTS PLEASE IF THIS HAPPENS TO YOU.
• The majority of the route is on closed roads with the remainder on roads open to other traffic in a controlled manner and we are obliged to Lincoln City Police for their co-operation in these areas.
• Team managers should pay special attention to their driving in built up areas as I get complaints from the police every year of excessive speed and reckless driving. I cannot prevent any action against you so please respect the laws of the road and help to ensure that the race can continue to enjoy the benefits of this superb circuit.
• For your own safety and to assist the police and marshals in traffic control any rider who is more than 5 minutes behind the main field will be withdrawn from the event and classified on the result sheet according to the number of laps completed. The race rolling closure will allow for a maximum of 10 minutes from front rider to back rider. Any groups of riders considered to be out of contention will be withdrawn. Any riders in such a position will be shown a Black Flag at the finishing line and MUST then wait in Bailgate until the Broom Wagon and rear Police escort motorbike have passed through and then either proceed directly to the Race HQ under normal road conditions or leave the circuit. Race numbers MUST be removed by any riders not still in the race.
• Please be careful on the first lap, especially the fast twisty descent of Burton Hill, this is in the first mile of the race and we would like to see you all cross the finish line, at least once. Fen Lane from Burton Village to the A57 has numerous pot holes at both edges and you should be aware of these and keep to the centre of the road.
• The first three riders in the event, plus any riders placed in the special competitions, MUST return to the Finish Area IMMEDIATELY after the finish for the official presentations.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The FEED AREA this year will be in Long Leys Road starting after the last bollard on the long straight and lasting for 200 metres. There is ample off road car parking in this area. Please do not leave litter.

Vehicles leaving the feed area for the finish should do so by following the race circuit to the foot of Michaelgate to bear left on to Spring Hill, left in to Carline Road and immediately right in to Union Road, right in to Westgate and right in to Bailgate.

On the final lap ALL TEAM CARS in the race convoy will be diverted at the foot of Michaelgate to follow the above route to Bailgate where the riders will arrive to after crossing the finish line in Castle Square. This will hopefully prevent the problems which occurred in 2009 with team vehicles blocking the finish area. These team vehicle routes will be signposted but the roads are not closed in your favour.

THIS DIVERSION IS MANDATORY AND PENALTIES WILL BE APPLIED IF NOT FOLLOWED

Neutral service vehicles will be used to cover the final climb of Michaelgate with one stopping there at one lap to go, the others following the leading groups.

There are numerous car parks around the circuit and the standard public car parking signs should be followed. There will be no on-course parking anywhere on the circuit. Your assistance and co-operation in these matters will help to ensure the continuation of the excellent co-operation we receive from the City of Lincoln and the Police.
